Papa, Please Get Well

Been running in and out of NUH these 2 days. My papa got knocked down by a lorry in a car park on Thursday. Scare and tired and anxious, all in one, making me very restless. In just 2 days, I see many things in a small small hospital...

I was told to wait at the waiting area in the A&E section with my mama and didi. I understand that the staff are all very busy people, but waiting time are way too long for anxious families outside. A father pushing his son in the pram, waiting for news of his wife who fell down. Elderly husband walking around with his umbrella like a walking stick, waiting anxiously for the nurse to come out to tell him, what happened to his wife inside. Crying children and grandchildren mourning for their mother and Ah Ma.

When my papa got transferred from the high dependency ward to normal ward today, we are really very relieved. However, the doctor said he still have to stay in the hospital as blood is found between the skull and membrane. So my papa can not be discharged today.

In the normal ward, I see different things this time. 6 people staying in a room, and all from different background. A Malay man looks ill lying on his bed, but the next thing I know, he was discharged when I saw his family walking in. 'I thought he looks very sick???'

On the bed opposite my papa, was a Chinese old man. He looks lonely and sick. The nurse even has to feed him when dinner time. Then, suddenly his family flocked in at about evening time. He is actually not lonely at all! His children and grandchildren had come to visit him.

Have a strong feel that we should not take everything for granted. Time wait for no one and you never know what will happen tomorrow. Enjoy the time with your love ones and enjoy yourself the way you want to be (of course must be legal you know). After my papa discharged, I will bring him out to eat all the good food outside. For the whole of yesterday, he told me, he just had 4 small things, 4 pills.
