I admit, I was a Fashion Terriorist during my 8 days in Taiwan.

As I had decided to bring jackets and long sleeves knitted wear, I went to dig out the nicely packed clothes out from the big bag under my bed. At first, I packed some nice t shirts, 2 long sleeves tops, knitted wear and a jacket I borrowed from Nana. Then I saw Mak's jacket and decided to borrow it too. Packed with all the nice clothes, thinking I have enough clothes to change and looked nice for photo taking, I set off.

However, things did not turn out as I expected.

It was too cold. Taipei's temperature was about 10 to 15 degree, whereas Qing Jing could go as low as 4 degree at the mountain. Everyday I wore a t shirt, a knitted sweater, a jacket over it, plus a scarf over my neck, just to keep myself warm. All the nice clothes were all knitted beneath the thick jacket instead.

My pictures showed me in a thick jacket eveyday, and it seems like I never change my clothes. After a while, I decided to take pictures of sceneries and interesting things instead. When i looked at the girls in Taipei, I really wanted to salute them for their bravery. It was freezing cold, and they can wear short skirts plus those thin leggings. And I was struggling to keep warms with 3 to 4 layers of clothes and long jeans to keep my legs warm.

Anyway, since I mentioned about Fashion, there is a person that I think my Taiwan Kakis will applause for her. CSB really impressed us by wearing her Long Jong like a normal 'Gai Gai' clothes. Normally Long John is a tight fitting clothes that is to be wore inside, before you put on your t shirt and jacket.

CSB's Long John was too big for her, so she wore it like a normal top everyday. Basically it kept her warm so she did not need to wear the outer layer of the clothes at all. She was seen to be wearing it from the time we arrived till the day we left.

Hahaha! I think Fashionista will never be placed under our name when we went to these cold countries. Our bodies are not accomodated to the super cold weather.

This is our theme song during our 8 days trip in Taiwan. I actually extracted it out from the song by Destiny Child - Surviour.

All of us had been keeping close with the news about the weather in Taiwan before our holiday started. We kept asking if we have to bring winter clothings, or a normal jacket will be just fine, should we bring scarves? Were we be bringing too much clothes?

Most of us said we would most probably bring jackets and scarves, and even gloves. We got information from the TV News in Taiwan that there were certain places that started snowing. Furthermore, countries such as Hong Kong, Japan and Europe and The States reported that the temperature had became very cold. Everyone put on very tight layers of clothings to keep warm.

So we decided to bring extra jackets and clothes to keep us warm. MPP said that she had been to Taipei the last time, and she just had a normal jacket on. Therefore this time, she would do the same thing too.

I think, I had really experience what is Winter this time. I had been to Taipei during Winter, and I even had holidays in Hawaii and Gold Coast, which the weather were the same. I remembered wearing jackets and long sleeve t shirts, but I never felt this cold before.

We arrived in Taipei in the evening and we wemt out for dinner. Once I stepped out of the hotel, I could feel cold breeze blowing on my face. I was wearing a thin layer of long sleeve t shirt and a thick jacket on. Frankly speaking, I had a sense of regrets at that time, because I should have put on another t shirt underneath. How am I glad that we arrived at the Hello Kitty Restaurant for dinner, I quickly went in to get blocked out by the wind outside.

You must be wondering, how had this song came into the picture. MPP told us previously that she wanted to be the survivor during this trip. Meaning she will make do with what she has brought and survived her 8 days out of this cold weather. As we walked around those shops after dinner, we could feel the cold temperature around us, despite us wearing like a dumpling. Maybe our body had not get used to this kind of coldness, we started to trembled. Turning to look at MPP, she looked all right in what she was wearing.

Suddenly, very inspired, I started singing Destiny Child's Survivour, only that I changed the lyrics a bit.

'I'am a survivor, in this cold weather'

And all of us thought it matched the atmosphere we had and the songs actaully turned out to be quite rythmn.

Our sole survivor gave up the title after 2 days, because it was really too cold. And she bought another jacket , because we believed days up the mountain might be even freezing.

This became our team song for the rest of the trip, because it became colder and colder.

Will continue the freezing point on my entry in Qing Jing. That was the highing level of coldness I had encountered.

My Long Awaited Holiday

This is the third time I had been to Taiwan. I have not been going for holiday since the past 2 years, and due to the tiring work I had in 2010, I really looked forward to this holiday for a long time.

My friends in the office know that I have been working without buddy for almost a year. Although everyone is kind enough to lend me a helping hand whenever they see me drowning, I still have to do major reports and adhoc requests from the HOS myself.

This break was like a life saviour, bringing work out of my mind for the time being (at least for 8 days). My Taiwan kakis even had AGM together, in order to make full use of the 8 days in Taipei. However, we had a change of plan and decided to travel out of Taipei for 2 days. First to Sun Moon Lake, then Qing Jing and after that, to Tai Zhong before going back to Taipei. All agreed and set off to Taipei on Boxing Day.

As there were really very funny incidents happened during the trip, I decided to keep my trip kakis' names a secret. So I have nicknamed them as CSB (Crazy Smiling Butt), MPP (Most Protected People) , and SQ (Shopping Queen).

CSB was not the first nichname we gave to her. She was formally known as 吃不停. Before we set off from Taipei, we had breakfast at Mac Donalds. On the plane, we had the meal served to us. After that, all of us had not eaten anything until we touched down Taipei and checked into the hotel. However, she told us, she ate a 凤梨酥which she kept from the meal we had previously. When we all went out for dinner at night, she ate heartily just like us. After that day, we witnessed her special talent. From normal meals to snacks, and ice creams, she never failed to show us that her small stomach could actually fill a lot of food, anytime.

By the way, we are really grateful to her, even now, that she spent her money on food, instead of shopping, because her super light luggage actually save us in the airport, as the other 3 of us had overweight luggage. As for why is she called CSB, that is a little secret between the 4 of us.

MPP was the most protected person during the trip. She was prompt to fall down in the unexpected time. If I have not remembered wrongly, she fell down twice and nearly fell twice. First time, she slipped down the steps when we were walking down in 九族文化村. Second time, she fell down in the van when 黄先生suddenly braked the van. Then when we were in 清境农场, when she nearly fell down. I happened to be standing behind her, so I managed to grab her before she fell. The last time was when we walked out of Mac Donalds in Tai Zhong. We were supposed to board the van to set off for Taipei. She came out from the shop and walked over the rail to the van. Fortunately I turned around to check on her, and managed to catch her before she fell again.

Oh!!! There was one mysterious incident too. SQ and I heard her shouted 'Aiyah' in the restroom when she said she wanted to take a shower. The first thing we shouted out was 'A! You fell down again har?'. Though she kept insisting that she actually dropped her towel, we still keep that as a mysterious fall. Hahaha! Since then, the three of us decided to protect her. We will walk beside, in front and behind her every time, in case she falls again, we will be able to catch her on time.

Before I forget, MPP is really very prepared Travel Kaki. She prepared all our itinerary and researched on information on our hotel, 民宿, transport, places to visit, things to bring for us. She provided 暖暖包for us. Really thankful of her.

SQ is still SQ regardless in Taiwan or Singapore. She could buy something in the places we went. Sun Moon Lake, Qing Jing, Tai Zhong and Taipei earned a lot of her money. Hahaha! She was the only person who came back to the hotel every night with something in her bag. Even if we went to 7-Eleven, she could grab a lot of of snacks, tidbits and things. She bought shoes, bags, books, DVDs, accessories and gifts. Fortunately, she brought additional bags to Taipei, because all the things could not fit into her luggage. I am really impressed that she can even bought instant noodle and soup and even 饭团back to Singapore. She definitely live up to her name!

I had 8 days of fond memories and new experiences, over 1400 pieces of photos. I will be blogging about my trip. So stay tuned.

And time to save up to recoup my damage cause in my bank account.

Christmas Gifts

I know this is sort of a bit late, but if you are following my blog, you realised that the whole month of December is empty. Basically I was too busy this year, and I have no time to blog.

December is a month that everyone will feel the joy of giving (ahem), and everyone will do Christmas shopping for their family and friends. Every year, we have a tradition of exchanging gifts in the office, so we will get something for each other.

All my friends in the office know that every year, I will make something on my own. And I will try to give a gift to almost everyone, (provided they joined the company way before I started making the gifts, and we become friends.)

I had make pouches, land yards, coin pouches, tofu doll miniature key chains, etc... I have already run out of ideas of what to make for them every year. My gift must always be useful, unisex and not too complicated, because I have to make about 100 of them each year.

This year, I decided to make key chains with their first letter of their names. Eg. J for Jennifer, G for Gillian, L for Lijun etc. I started making them since October, and frankly speaking, it was quite a chores. I got my friends from different departments to help me write down the names of the people over their side, and I started to knit the alphabets. Along the way, I received news that some people are leaving and new successors came in. As we get to work each other a lot, we make friends, and I have to put in their names for the gifts too.

This time, I was super stressed out, because of the attack of the 'Hong Mo' and getting prepared for Taipei trip (I accepted a lot of GRO assignments in November and December), I have not enough time to make them. My available slots were time after work, after my gym and gathering with my friends during weekend. It was a challenge for me. (It is always a challenge every year!)
I realised that there are a lot of people whose name starts with S, C and J, and there are very little people with names starting with V, and there is only one person with the letter B. Haha! Even the letter W has more number.

The most exciting part was to look for the key chains. I went around many places looking for them. Either that they are too expensive or the stores did not have enough stock. In the end, I found a handicraft shop that sell beaded stuffs, and I managed to get 100 pieces of key chains from there. The boss is kind enough to give me a discounts, because I bought so many from him.

I successfully completed everything before Christmas Eve, and these are my final products!
Tada!

It itched!!!

I believed that many of you heard of 'Hong Mo'. It is some kind of skin sensitive thing that looks like mosquitoes bites. Then they will start to grow bigger and bigger and eventually merge to become one big patch.

I had suffered from this sensitive skin attack for 2 months, and it actually make my life like hell. It attacked me anytime and anywhere on my body. Once I woke up and realised there was a lump on my head. It looked that I knocked my head on the bed or table during my sleep.

Another time, it attacked my face, and my friends thought how come my face looked unbalance that day.

Yes, I have been to the doctor and took medicines, but it did not work. It was under control for like 2 days and it attacked me again. I even went to try tapping alcohol on it to ease the itch. However, it only worked for a while. I even stopped eating seafood, just to reduce the chance for the attack.

As I was going for my holiday in Taipei in December, I told myself, I really need to fix this. The doctor that I always go to whenever I have such problems, really can cure me. However, it was quite expensive, therefore, he will always be my last resorts.

So I went to see him. His clinic might looks old in the neighbourhood, but he is really very good. I went into the room, had a jab, went home with 2 packets of medicines. The whole day, I never feel a slight sense of itch anymore.

And of course, I am a good girl to finish up all my medicines even when I was in Taipei. On top of that, I stop eating seafood, except fish. Maybe I will try my first bite of the prawns during Chinese New Year and I hope it will not attack me anymore.

He has been treating my skin sensitive problem ever since I was a kid. He never fail to cure me, therefore he gained my trust. However, as I have mentioned before, it is a private clinic, so the cost is quite high. (Touch wood lah!) In case you need his contact, I have a name card here to share.

He Is Trying To Be Funny

Mak and I will be going to Bangkok in Feb, and Prach is kind to let us stay in his condo. So we decided to buy him food he likes to eat in Singapore.

Therefore, I sent him a message in Whatsapp.

Me : 'Hi! Anything you like to eat in Singapore? We can buy and bring over to Bangkok for you.'

And he replied, 'Ice Kacang, can you?'

He is trying to be funny is it?

For the first time, I did not have a single blog for the previous month. Not that I was lazy, I was really busy working as GRO and preparing gifts for my fellow friends in the office. As I had planned to go on holiday in Taiwan, I need to work hard for my trip.

Many people know that my Christmas gifts are very special every year, because I will make them myself. Each year, I will think of what to make for my friends so they can keep and use. Therefore, to give everyone in the office, I have to start making them from October onwards every year. December will be the month I have to turn on my turbo mode and rush out the the targeted amount of gifts before 24th Dec.

I always think December is a very stress month for me. Torn between work and gifts, plus shopping for gifts for children, I am always racing with time. Everything have to be done in the shortest time.

Stress stress stress... However, I had a wonderful December in 2010. Will share with everyone in the following blog. Stay tuned!
